Frequently asked question: I have changed photos in an image editor and also saved them to disk. But I don't see the changes in Excire Foto. What can I do? For background: if a folder has already been added to Excire Foto and its photos have been analyzed, Excire Foto does not automatically check these directories for changes (as this would slow down the program a lot).
After editing, there are two options.
Synchronize folder
To bring a folder up to date, there is an option to right-click on the folder name and invoke the "Synchronize" command. This will read new photos into the database and remove photos that are no longer in the folder.
Synchronizing only takes into account photos that were not in the database before.
Regenerate previews
If a photo has been edited and then resaved under the same filename, sync will not take effect.
The quickest way to customize the view in Excire Foto for such photos is to highlight them and then right-click on the photo to select " Build Preview(s)". This will regenerate the preview, leaving the keywords intact.
Photos that have been edited in database-driven programs must first be saved ("exported") to disk from that program after editing, so that they are visible to other programs. This applies, for example, to Adobe Lightroom, Luminar Neo, Capture One, to name a few.
