How to use the HEIC format?

Files with the extension .heic or .heif have been supported since version 1.1.1.

On Mac OS, there is nothing further to do. Here, the HEIC format is automatically processed.

On Windows, the HEIC format is not natively supported. In order for .heic files to be displayed, the system must support HEVC compression. For this purpose, you can install the following two extensions from the Microsoft Store, offered by the Microsoft Corporation:
HEIF Image Extensions (free, Link)  and HEVC Video Extensions (paid, Link)

After installation, images in the HEIC format can be displayed and used by Excire Foto. If the images were added to Excire Foto before the installation of the extensions, the images can be removed via the context menu and re-added through synchronization.
